Super-sub connects four!

Connect 4

Early kick-offs are a bugger…

For the first time in seven seasons I was late. Traffic on the A40 into London was crawling and then I had to divert past Camden through Swiss Cottage to get to the game. I got changed in a hurry (I’m notoriously slow usually) and made it out on to the pitch about 10 minutes into the first half.

Unfortunately we were 1-0 down, but well done to Rich for keeping the score down. But the lads dug in and two neat finishes saw us 2-1 up at the break. A great defensive performance with five men behind the ball most of the second half, meant no further scoring and the 100% start to the season has stretched to four games.

After the game the opposition players were recommending me for MOM. Andy kindly provided my name but thought about giving his own. He obviously has his eye on the player of the season trophy himself! Let’s hope Rich puts in some more good stand-in goalie performances soon, as I’m bound to miss some matches when the baby comes…

Practice makes perfect

Last weekend was baby weekend. A whole day of NCT classes, which were very good. I took loads of notes in my mini-moleskin of various hints and tips. We met loads of nice people, one couple even have a sofa to get rid of, so we gratefully took it off their hands – thanks Tracey and Rupert!

On Sunday we went through all the baby clothes and even practiced dressing and nappy changing on a toy bear, the colour of which has been removed for reasons of secrecy…

A great start to 2009

Happy New Year! Been a while since the last post and much has happened over Christmas and the New Year.

Football out of the way first… It’s not been the best few weeks for Leeds United, we sacked our manager after a run of defeats, including an embarrassing exit from the FA Cup at the hands of non-league Histon. But the new year brings a new manager who’s not doing too badly so far, but we need a dramatic increase in form to get into at least the play-off places.

Torpedo TF have had a better time. After a decent season last time out, we have started this one on fire! Three wins out of three and a crunch clash with the second place team – who have won their first two – next week, the future looks rosy.

The family future is also looking good with not long to go now before the big day. We had a ‘baby weekend’ this week, pics soon…
