We needed a reaction to our first defeat of the season last week and we got it!

The previous game against Ataxic finished with a narrow 1-0 win, and we repeated that performance by grinding out a result after taking a first half lead through the prolific Marcus. Recalled after a few months out, he popped up with a neat finish, but along with the rest of the team (even me!) fitness was severely tested as we defended for our lives after we lost a player to injury. In seasons past we would have crumbled, but this season, despite some personnel changes in the last 2 weeks we have been consistent.

Get well soon Rich, we need you, especially with my paternity leave coming up fast…

High flying Torpedo TF’s winning run finally came to an end this week as we were soundly beaten 4-1 by our nearest rivals. A few things conspired against us, we had two enforced changes to the team and Ricky who stepped into the team was wrongly sent off along with an opponent for a scuffle in the first half. This unfortunately left us with no subs and up to half time we conceded three goals. The offenders were allowed back on for the second period and we shared a goal each, but were unable to get back into the game.

Thankfully we had already beaten them earlier in the campaign, but the race for the title is now wide open. Other results went our way and we still lead the table by three points but second place have a game in hand and a better goal difference.

As they say in football, its how you react to a defeat that matters…

This weeks game was postponed due to the bad weather that swept most of the country. Good thing was it was an early kick-off thus avoiding the problems of last week!

Our fixtures have been rearranged, so it could be an interesting next few games. We play a team we haven’t played before and then our nearest rivals who we just beat the week before. Positive results would put us in a great position to challenge for honours.
