In basket, watch out!

In Me myself and I on February 8, 2011 at 10:01 pm

I promised I would let you know how I’m getting on with ‘Getting things done’. Well, so far I’ve bought my in baskets, file folders and labeller, and collection starts next week… it does say it takes most people 2 days to collect and then process all of their open loops. I’m sort of looking forward to it, having now finished the book, I can’t wait to get stuck in and actually start doing some of this stuff!

Getting things done…

In Me myself and I, Wish I'd though of that on January 31, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Its been nearly eleven months since I signed off my last post with “Promise I’ll try and be more regular with the postings from now on…”. Well, I just discovered ‘Getting things done’ by David Allen through a guy called Merlin Mann. I continually want to de clutter and get stressed about not getting round to it, so I started researching productivity on the internet and ended up watching a few videos on YouTube (I know, doesn’t sound very productive), namely Merlin’s Inbox Zero which led me to GTD. I bought the book rather than wait for it to be delivered on Amazon and am currently half way through. I WILL let you know how I’m getting on soon. Promise.

Footy sunshine and rain in London

In the Apple Store

Live from the Apple Store in London’s Regent Street, I’ve got a few hours shopping time to fit in a haircut etc. before meeting up with the family in North London.

Last night was bright and sunny at the football, but unfortunately we came up against a good, well organised team. Although we were on the wrong end of a 4-0 score line, I felt we played pretty well and were unlucky not to come away with a few goals. I haven’t checked the stats, but I think that’s a fair few games since we’ve drawn a blank. Anyhow, we’re only a few games into the season and plenty of time to climb the table.

Must dash, plenty to fit in today!

So close, you can taste it

In Me myself and I, The beautiful game on April 5, 2009 at 10:01 pm

A professional performance this week has seen us just one point from winning the league. Even without Andy (broken arm) and Tom (holiday), we were able to control the game and with a goal in each half, secure the three points that takes us to the brink.

I was pleased with the clean sheet, and what I would do for another next week! Our nearest rivals play after us, so we could seal the title at the earliest opportunity. However, a defeat could let them in and by winning their last two games they could snatch victory on goal difference…

Back in the real world, I’ve managed in between feeds to upgrade the blog onto wordpress.com. So I’ve chosen a new look, hope anyone who comes along likes it.

Battered, tired, bruised and broken

In Me myself and I, The beautiful game on March 27, 2009 at 8:30 pm

It’s been a hard week.

Going back to work after paternity leave has been a shock to the system, but I’ve kept up my cycling and now the nights are lighter, I can bike to work. Isabel is doing very well and despite being a little unsettled the last few days, she’s been an angel. Mel has been hard at work in the pumping room as is getting used to doing most things on her own.

Torpedo resumed action after last week’s cancelled game and we came away with another precious three points but at a price. Andy, who had been having a great game was brought down in the first half and landed on his elbow. He was able to finish the game but was in quite a bit of pain. We learned the next day that he’s broken his arm. Tom who has been regularly getting our goals is also missing from next week’s penultimate game. We need four points from them to be crowned champions. Wish us luck and get well soon Andy.

Nail Watch update

In Me myself and I, The beautiful game on March 12, 2009 at 10:34 am

In October last year my nails were the longest they had been for a long time. I tried to get into looking after them after years of abuse. So I bet you’re wondering what they look like now…?

Unfortunately I have receded somewhat… but with good reason. Our little bump is now a week overdue! Not that I am in any way linking the fortunes of my family with my football team, but things are hotting up in the league table. After last weeks depressing results, in our week off there were some surprise results and we are now still leading by two points but with a game in hand over our rivals.

Things are definitely going to start happening this weekend, so I’ll be sitting out Tuesday’s game, but in between hopefully looking after our new baby, I’ll be sending out positive vibes to the boys. Good luck to everyone!

fogblog is 1

In Me myself and I on February 12, 2009 at 9:56 pm

happy 1st birthday

Time flies doesn’t it? A whole year has passed since I started this blog and much has changed in that time – I’ve switched jobs, become a landlord, moved out of London and am soon to become a father. But at least I’ve fulfilled one of the things that this blog set out to do, which was to keep it going for more than a few months. I don’t think I can remember ever celebrating the anniversary of a diary before, so that’s something new to add to the list as well.

One thing I’ve found from blogging is the thought that someone out there could be reading – not that it bothers me if there isn’t as another of the aims of the blog was just to keep a record I can look back on myself and maybe show to the little one, once its old enough, what Daddy was up to! But if there is anyone out there, leave me a comment, even if it’s just to support the mighty Torpedo TF… and by the way we extended the winning run to 5 games with a walk-over victory this week. Back to the football next post!

Super-sub connects four!

Connect 4

Early kick-offs are a bugger…

For the first time in seven seasons I was late. Traffic on the A40 into London was crawling and then I had to divert past Camden through Swiss Cottage to get to the game. I got changed in a hurry (I’m notoriously slow usually) and made it out on to the pitch about 10 minutes into the first half.

Unfortunately we were 1-0 down, but well done to Rich for keeping the score down. But the lads dug in and two neat finishes saw us 2-1 up at the break. A great defensive performance with five men behind the ball most of the second half, meant no further scoring and the 100% start to the season has stretched to four games.

After the game the opposition players were recommending me for MOM. Andy kindly provided my name but thought about giving his own. He obviously has his eye on the player of the season trophy himself! Let’s hope Rich puts in some more good stand-in goalie performances soon, as I’m bound to miss some matches when the baby comes…

Practice makes perfect

In Me myself and I on January 26, 2009 at 10:37 am

Last weekend was baby weekend. A whole day of NCT classes, which were very good. I took loads of notes in my mini-moleskin of various hints and tips. We met loads of nice people, one couple even have a sofa to get rid of, so we gratefully took it off their hands – thanks Tracey and Rupert!

On Sunday we went through all the baby clothes and even practiced dressing and nappy changing on a toy bear, the colour of which has been removed for reasons of secrecy…
